Hello! My name is Alexis Mason and I am 20 years old & I am the creator of Graphix Pulse! I was born and raised in East Providence, Rhode Island. I currently attend New England Institute of Technology in pursuit of a bachelors degree in graphic design. Just over a year into my education and I have grown confident in my work as a designer. Being a graphic design student has allowed me to produce some of my best work and taught me so much– especially about the importance of meeting deadlines! I have also learned to stay up to date with trends and how beneficial it is to stop out of my comfort zone when designing.

I pay close attention to detail in my work, and I’m always looking for ways to improve my skills whether it be watching tutorials on YouTube or asking for constructive criticism from a friend, professor, family member, or a fellow designer. I often find myself creating my best work after those steps, and I couldn’t be more thankful for all of the help and support I get along the way.

Let’s get personal

I’m a very sentimental person and I find beauty in everything. Upon breaking something down into it’s simplest form, I believe that anything and everything can be labeled “beautiful.” When it comes to everyday life, I find myself deep in thought about not only how things work, but how I could create something similar. I can find inspiration from anywhere, and I think that is important.

Located on the right is just a few examples of things I’ve photographed because I saw beauty in them. While the photo of the dog may be quite obvious, the others may not be. That is what makes them unique and beautiful to me. Anything from color, texture, form, and anything in between are key components that make me enjoy & want to photograph something.

Photography is something that I enjoy and while I do not consider myself an expert photographer, I do believe I can compose some interesting shots if the opportunity strikes.

My Hobbies & Interests

One of my most prominent interests is and always has been animals. Furry, feathery, scaly, anything. There is a few exceptions though– insects! I am not the biggest fan of them. For a while, I owned guinea pigs. Owning them created some of the happiest moments of my life as well as some of the most heartbreaking moments too. In short; they are adorable and fun to keep as pets however they don’t live very long and they require a lot of work to keep happy & healthy. One of my biggest wants from back then and even until right now is owning either a cat or a dog. To be able to take care of a living being to me shows great responsibility and character qualities and I believe that a cat or a dog would be the next step for me as a pet owner.

Some other interests of mine are music and exploring. I am always listening to music if I have the time. Genre has no significance to me, I will listen to anything as long as it sounds good. Towards the end of the year I always look forward to seeing my Spotify wrapped to see just how much music I’ve listened to as well as the variety. I enjoy listening to music while going on walks either around the neighborhood, or in a different city. I love discovering new areas and beautiful places to spend time either alone or with someone else.

I would consider art to be a hobby of mine. When I was younger, I would draw, paint, craft anything and everything. Now that I’ve gotten older though, I have had less time in my life to dedicate to drawing, but it seems that old hobby of mine has come back full circle in disguise of graphic design.
